Hold On, Help Is Coming

Louise Harris

‘Hold on, help is coming’

This is a very powerful phrase which had a deep impact on me at a very difficult time in my life, some years ago. I was going through a painful divorce and absolutely desperate for a home to call my own.

I had been crying out to my Heavenly Father but I was feeling hopeless and I just couldn’t see a way forwards, when this phrase popped up in a daily reading. It really struck me and I clung to it, I just knew I had to hold on tight and wait to see what God would do.

Well help did come not long after and it far exceeded my expectations, in fact it absolutely blew my away. Some dear friends stepped in and their selfless generosity enabled me to move to my new home.

From the minute I set foot in it, peace descended and it has been a place of comfort, balm and healing, and not just for me but for those I love. There has been a lot of laughter and so many happy times here. It’s now my 10th year in my home and so many lovely memories have been made.

When I was asking God what to write in my reflection this story clearly came to mind as I remembered God’s faithfulness and the amazing answer he sent me.

I feel that this story and encouragement is meant for someone reading this.

So, whoever you are and whatever the circumstances: Hold on, help is coming!

There is a very apt song that is worth a listen:
Hold On, Help Is On The Way’ by Whitney Houston.

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth. He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep, the sun will not harm you by day or the moon by night. The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121: 1

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10: 23
